Quick to Offense, Ready for Defense

“Give me your heart for them,

Help me see them how you do,

Help me understand what they go through,

May I truly feel what they do.”

Was once my prayer to you

Lord you've answered my prayer and now with these feelings and sensations, I don't know what to do.

I've been so blind,

I've been so numb,

I've been self-centered,

I've been so dumb.

We're all so broken,

We're all so blind,

We're all so damaged,

We're so confused,

We're all so lost.

We know not what we do!

How can we see if it's not through you,

How can we feel if our hearts are not pure,

How can we know if only you hold the truth.

We are so quick to take offense,

So ready for defense,

So willing to seek revenge.

Help us hunger for your justice,

And for your spirit thirst,

Help us forget about ourselves,

And think of others first.
